Unfortunately, governmental funding for projects related to sustainable development/education for sustainable development is both muddled and highly competitive. Some organisations approaching ESD or SD have also commented on the lack of transparency in the funding process. One of the key issues in relation to funding is the fact that its central concepts are often incorporated into other funding schemes. Many organisations have also commented that long-term funding is very hard to secure, resulting in short-term projects with reduced ambition and capacity. At UK UNESCO, we have attempted to compile a list of governmental and independent funding streams related to SD issues. Please read through the briefing of the funding before applying as some funds are highly specific.
