To ensure a successful decade, various organisations with diverse objectives related to the DESD operate globally. Below, you will a list of these organisations:
Earth Charter – The International Secretariat is focused on facilitating the implementation of the partnership titled, ‘Educating for Sustainable Living with the Earth Charter’ which was launched at the Johannesburg Summit.
Global Higher Education for Sustainability Partnership (GHESP) – aiming to make sustainability a major focus in higher education. Key organizations: form the key: the Association of University Leaders for a Sustainable Future (ULSF); COPERNICUS-CAMPUS; International Association of Universities (IAU); and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
United Nations University – the ESD Programme aims to contribute to global environmental challenges. The Global Environment Information Centre (GEIC) and Zero Emissions Forum (ZEF) are part of the ESD Programme.
World Conservation Union – the world’s largest conservation network, bringing together 82 states, 111 government agencies, more than 800 NGOs and some 10,000 scientists and experts from 181 countries.
